Facility Data Tracking and Life Cycle Assessment Internship

Description

This internship will require the successful applicant to create a baseline for energy use for each facility using the smart meter data collected with the UBC ION system. The student will create a tracking system that will allow UBC Athletics to build on existing data collection and follow trends as facility upgrades, renovations and new construction takes place. Energy monitoring will be an important part of environmental performance tracking being carried out by UBC Athletics.

  • Knowledge of environmental management
  • Experience with data collection and facility management
  • Must show how collection techniques will minimize facility manager’s work and maximize ability to track facility utilities over multiple years.
  • Versatile with capacity and capabilities to manage multiple projects
  • Proficient in MS Office and Excel
  • Highly motivated, detail oriented, and dependable
  • Possess organizational, time management, and troubleshooting competence
  • Excellent team player, and capability to work independently
  • Superb communication skills – verbal and written

Facilities Improvement Internship

Description

The successful candidate will help UBC Athletics and Recreation identify ‘low-hanging fruit’ facility improvement projects and build the case for economic, environmental and social payback. The student will work closely with UBC Athletics Facilities team and use information gathered by Athletics to identify these potential projects.

UBC Thunderbirds Community Outreach Internship

Description

The successful candidate will identify key areas for community engagement that will help the UBC Thunderbirds events achieve the twin goals of: increased attendance and reduced environmental impact. In particular, this involves stimulating the Athletics and Recreation partnerships and targeting the aspects of travel, food consumption and waste. This internship involves developing marketing/communication strategies for planned initiatives. The student will be able to build on ideas and information gathered by Athletics to date.
