CIVL 498C Olympic Venue LCA Study Final Presentation

Vancouver Olympic Venue Environmental Impact Study

  • Wondering what the environmental impact of the Vancouver Olympics venues were?
  • Unsure what Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is?
  • Interested in Green Building?
  • Prefer to see words like ‘green’ replaced with quantified and transparent accounts of environmental impacts?

then attend this presentation by students of CIVL 298C who will discuss their LCA studies on the structures and envelopes of the Richmond Oval and Thunderbird arenas.

The presentation will explain what LCA is and how it can be practically applied to address issues in green building and policy making. Following the presentation, the floor will open for questions and discussion with the audience. Various interest groups can weigh in on the ideas presented linked with green building, sustainable development and LCA. Internationally, life cycle assessment (LCA) is widely regarded as the most comprehensive and rigorous environmental impact analysis tool available, and the presenters would like to show you why.
