Internship Opportunity: 2014 Games Sustainability Program

Description
The Sustainability Committee for the Special Olympics Canada 2014 Summer Games and the UBC Centre for Sport and Sustainablity are seeking a motivated student to assist with the sustainability program for the Games.

Duration
Work duration is March – August, 2014 with a time commitment of approximately 4 hours per week initially and increasing to 8-10 hours per week closer to the event. An honorarium will be provided.

Responsibilities include
Chiefly, this will involve assisting with planning, operationalizing, and reporting to make the event conform to the Canadian Standards Association Z-2010: Requirements and Guidance for Organizers of Sustainable Events.

Requirements
Background in environmental sustainability a plus
Knowledge of event management a plus
Experience with data collection a plus
Strong communication skills – verbal and written
Excellent team player, and capability to work independently
Registered as an undergraduate or graduate student
